These terms govern your use of CostRule, published by Keydams. By using this site, you agree to them.

What this site is

CostRule publishes cost estimates for home improvement installation and repair projects, built from published wage data, collected material prices, and labor-hour research — the full model is described on the Methodology page.

Estimates only, not a quote

The numbers on this site are estimates, not quotes. They’re built from aggregated wage and price data at a national and state level, not from an inspection of your specific project. Your actual project cost can differ from the range shown here — sometimes substantially — depending on your home’s condition, your location within a state, the contractor you hire, and details a general cost model can’t account for. Before making a purchasing or hiring decision, get a written quote from a licensed professional for your specific project.

No warranty

This site and its content are provided “as is.” Keydams doesn’t guarantee that any figure on CostRule is accurate, current, or will match what you’re quoted or charged for an actual project. Every number is sourced and dated, and errors are corrected when reported (see Contact), but there’s no promise that the site will be error-free or uninterrupted.

Limitation of liability

Keydams bears no responsibility for direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential harm connected to visiting CostRule or acting on the cost figures it publishes, wherever the law allows that limit. Anyone drawing on the data here does so by their own choice and takes on that risk personally.

Acceptable use

You may read, share, and link to pages on CostRule for personal or informational purposes. You may not scrape, republish, or systematically reproduce the site’s data or content without permission — the underlying data set is the product this site exists to publish, and its value depends on being sourced back to CostRule rather than copied wholesale. Quoting a figure or a short passage with a link back to the page it came from is welcome — that is what the data is published for.
